1st Flush Himalayan Teas

The first flush harvest marks the arrival of spring in the Himalayan tea gardens of Darjeeling and Nepal. Picked after the long winter dormancy, these tender young leaves capture the essence of renewal.

Darjeeling and Nepal 1st flush teas are prized for their delicate, nuanced character. The liquor is typically light golden in color, with a vibrant freshness and crisp clarity that distinguishes them from later harvests. Expect notes of floral blossoms, green almond, fresh herbs, and muscatel grape, often with a subtle sweetness and brisk finish.

Because the leaves are plucked when they are at their most tender, 1st flush teas express a lively aroma of spring flowers and mountain air, making them some of the most sought-after teas in the world. Their rarity and limited seasonality add to their appeal, as each harvest reflects the unique climate and terroir of that year.
These teas are often referred to as the “Champagne of Teas” - elegant, complex and best enjoyed plain, without milk, to fully appreciate their fine character.
