Marshmallow is indigenous to Europe and parts of Asia and is part of the Malvaceae family. It's garden varieties are called HollyHocks. The whole plant contains a tacky, slimy substance known as mucilage, with the root of 2-3 year old plants containing the highest percentage. The root is often dried, sliced into discs, and then powdered to support healthy gastrointestinal function where irritation may be present. It has traditionally been used to support all mucosal membranes especially in the bronchioles, mouth, and intestines.

I have GERD and the pain can be intense. I wanted a natural way to relieve the pain and read about Marshmallow Root. After my first cup of cold infused tea the burning and pain greatly subsided and it is now part of my routine. The tea coats the stomach and esophagus and allows for the body to heal. I will definitely reorder from Shanti as the quality of the Marshmallow Root was very good.

Hello, Several years ago, I was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis (painful Overactive Bladder Syndrome). After doing much research on my own, the one constant that was recommended was Marshmallow Root tea. It is VERY difficult to find and when I found it the first time, it was sent to me in teabags. It worked pretty well, but when I tried to re-order from the previous place, it was taking MUCH longer to receive it. I found Shanti Teas and they promptly delivered to me Organic Loose tea in an awesome zip bag. It works BETTER than ever. I am SO pleased with the tea AND the service.
