Royal Cream Earl Grey - Lotus Teabag Collection
This blend will definitely appeal to those who prefer the strong, bold and full bodied taste profile that is normally associated with Earl Grey Blends. Royal Cream of Earl Grey is adored for its upfront bergamot flavour followed by its lingering creamy vanilla aftertaste. Those who enjoy a slightly astringent and strong tea with milk or sugar will be delightfully impressed!
Story, Folklore, History...
There are many colourful stories as to how Earl Grey, a 19th century British politician became associated with his namesake tea. While one has him (or one of his troops) saving a mandarin tea farmers son from drowning and a tea subsequently being named for him, another has a Chinese tea merchant specially blending his shipments of tea with bergamot oil to offset the taste of poor quality water the British were using to brew their tea. Perhaps the most accepted anecdote has Earl Grey’s tea being shipped from China in a container shared with Bergamot fruit on its way to England. When it arrived having absorbed the citrus aroma and taste, consumers we in love and the rest was history!
